How to use the Root Sum

The Root Sum of a Pick 3 or pick 4 combination is an extension of the sums principle: an addition of a combination’s three digits/pick 3 or 4 digits pick 4 . However, unlike a regular sum, if the sum is more than one digit in length, the sum’s digits are added — and added again if necessary — until the resulting sum is one digit in length, this results in the root number.

For pick 3 example, the root of 123 is 6. Or for pick four game 0123 is 6 That is calculated by adding the three digits of the combination (1 + 2 + 3). or four didgits (0+1+2+3) Since the sum is one digit in length, we can stop right there.

In another example, the root of 757 is 1. That is calculated by adding the three digits of the combination (7 + 5 + 7) to get 19, which is more than one digit in length, so we need to keep going. We add the 1 + 9, and we get 10, which is still more than one digit in length. So we add the 1 + 0, and we get 1, which is one digit in length, so we have arrived at the root of 1. Choosing numbers based on root is distinctly different from using regular sums because of the even distribution of numbers, unlike regular sums, which form a “bell curve” distribution of numbers. Root analysis tends to make biases more clearly apparent.
